On a beautiful Wednesday afternoon, the KUA Boys’ JV1 soccer team hosted Brewster Academy in a game played on Grenier Field. The boys executed the game plan well and came away with a 5-1 victory. Cosku Kaplan ’16, was incredible as he scored a hat trick. The first was at the 6 minute mark off a through ball from Julian Erhard ’19, who had just received it from Myles Brockelman ’16. Kaplan’s second and third goals came in a span of three minutes just before the first half ended. One off a throw-in from Elliot Stevenson ’18, and the other off a pass from Jack Geraghty ’18. Geraghty figured two other goals as well. In the 27th minute he beat two defenders down the flank, turned the corner along the end line, and slotted the ball to Jack Clarner ’19, who pummeled the ball into the back of the net. It was a classic example of “The Drill.” The other goal came when Andre Scherding ’17, sent a through ball to Geraghty whose shot ricocheted off the post to a crashing Khenrab Norgay ’19. Norgay did the rest. Brewster’s goal came when a strong #6 beat the Wildcats’ defense and slammed the ball into the upper net. Alex Plummer ’16, did an admirable job tending the KUA goal in the first half and Nolan Lavallee ’18, notched a shut out during the second half in his KUA debut. Much of the second half saw possession soccer as the Wildcats sought to control the game. Julian Erhard ’19, Zach Wennik ’18, Ahmed Naghi ’17, and Noah Herfort ’17 battled hard and successfully controlled the midfield. SeHo Kim ’16, Ben Caron ’19, and Chandler Stowell ’17, were solid on defense. Cory Kim ’18, and Arthur Hwang ’16, kept the opposing defense off balance with their hard charging play. The KUA side plays their next game at home on Saturday at 2:00.
