JV3 Soccer Comes Alive!

Lee Cogan made his debut at striker today, and he let the league know that he means business. Cogan scored not once, not twice, but three times, as the boys of JV3 battled back from a two goal deficit to defeat Lebanon High School 4-2. Lebanon took a 2-0 lead early in the match. Then Cogan took over. With support from Sawyer Constantine, Asher Pollak, Jacob Weiss, and Arthur Hwang, Cogan used his speed to get behind the Lebanon defense and put the ball in the net -- twice. By halftime, the score was tied at 2. In the second half, Cogan added a third goal and Arthur Hwang added a fourth.   Hwang’s goal brought the crowd to its feet -- a beautifully placed shot off the left foot that quickly found the left upper 90. KUA came painfully close to adding another when Ben Astley had a shot hit the post.  Ben was outstanding this afternoon, and it is just a matter of time before he opens his account. The defense this afternoon was anchored by Gavin Black who was solid as a rock. Ansar Rakhmetov played with tenacity and Sean Suh was as reliable as ever. Hats off to Jacob Weiss who did a fantastic job getting back on defense, and Coulston Rogerson and Lucas Shapiro who stepped in to support the team when we needed it most.
