KUA 1, Stanstead College 2

The Kimball Union Wildcats made the trip over the border to play a gritty Stanstead College team in a non-conference Wednesday night matchup. The game was fairly even throughout the first two periods, which equal scoring opportunities had by both opponents, however after 2 periods it was Stanstead that led 2-0. The score remained until just over a minute left in the third period where hometown hero Caroline Longpre netted a goal from just inside the faceoff dot off a rebound. The goal was deserved after non-stop effort and determination all game long from Longpre. Even with 40 seconds of empty net 6 on 5 play, the Wildcats were unable to score the game tying goal, ending the game with a final score of 2-1.

 

Morgan Walsh, Joanna Schafer and Maya Karosas also each had an exceptional game, displaying patience with the puck and a continuous work ethic throughout the game. Amelie Poirier came up with several big-saves at the end of the third period to help diminish any scoring chances Stanstead had.

 

The Wildcats next face Holderness Saturday 1/12 at 3:15pm at KUA.
