KUA off on the right foot as the start the new year with a win over Vanier, 90-77

Vanier Prep form Montreal travelled down to take on the KUA Wildcats today.  KUA, just back from the holiday break, stormed out to an early 15 point lead and were up 22 at the half 46-24.  Vanier found their stride in the second half and chipped away at KUA’s lead bringing down to as close as eight late in the half.  Behind Malik Abu’s strong inside play at both ends of the court, KUA prevailed 90-77 in the end.  Abu lead all scorers with 22 for the night.   Point guard Devon Thomas added 15 and was joined in double figure scoring by Devin Gilligan(12pts), Malcolm Brent(10), Duby Maduegbunam(10), and Crew Ainge(10).  Exeter Academy, currently 7-0, will come to Meriden on Saturday for the Wildcats next match.
