On a crisp November night, the KUA varsity boys' headed down to Andover, Ma to face off against a tough Andover Academy squad. The night couldn't have started any better. The Wildcats opened up the scoring 19 seconds into the contest. The ball slipped through the Andover back line, which Elliot Maker got on the end of, dribbled it to the end line and slipped the ball across the face of the goal which found Peguy N'Gatcha. N'Gatcha calmly put the ball in the back of the net for an early 1-0 lead. Andover fought back and equalized the score at 1 after a scramble in front, the ball found an Andover player who put it in. From there, the game was back and forth for a while, with neither team really having too much success keeping possession. With about 14 minutes left to go in the half, Santi Morales hit a one time ball from the KUA defensive third which skipped through the Andover back line. Maker picked up the ball and slotted it passed the Andover goalie to make it 2-1. The Wildcats did very well on defensive free kicks and throw-ins. The handled the pressure excellently, making sure to get a touch on every cross and not letting it bounce in the box. The half would end 2-1 for KUA.
The second half saw some of the same. Andover threatened with their long throw, corner kicks and deep free kicks into the box. KUA's back line and midfield handled it superbly. After a nice passing sequence in the midfield, N'Gatcha picked up the ball, dribbling at the Andover back line, made an excellent through pass to Morgan Dewdney, who had made a deep run from the midfield. He collected the ball with one controlling touch and poked it by the keeper for a 3-1 lead. Maker, N'Gatcha, Sam O'Shea, Joey Grachek and Diego Rossi all had looks on goal the rest of the half, but the Andover keeper was up to the task. The KUA back line of Conor Higgins, Dan Scherding, Connor Skehan and Santi Morales were tremendous in handling the Andover pressure. Max Matel did well to get off of his line and keep the Andover offensive players at bay. Charlton Muhlauri and Parker Beaupre did very well on the outside mid positions, looking dangerous offensively and showing well defensively.
The KUA Boys' would like to thank all of our supporters who came down to Andover to cheer the team on. It was a great night, wonderful atmosphere and a good result.
