The Wildcats found themselves down 5-1 after the first quarter and then 8-1 at the half before finding their balance and playing Exeter even the rest of the way in route to a 12-5 defeat on the road. Exeter converted early and often as the visiting squad struggled to clear and hold possession of the ball. KUA limped into the half, and then made adjustments in both ends of the field in preparation for the second half. KUA notched the first goal of the second half when Max Abendroth snipped a Drew Simoneau feed. Abendroth and Simoneau both finished the day with two goals while Josh Rombach added the fifth Wildcat goal. Ben Hayden and Chris Morse both contributed assists.

KUA’s long poles, led by Miles Hancock, Franklin Boswell-Taylor, and Cullen Boyle started slow but then were tough in the midfield, especially in the second half, as they gained the edge and shut down the Exeter midfield. Goalie Michael Maggiore shut recorded 8 saves on the day and converted one save while the Wildcats were down two men into a quick ¾ field outlet pass that led to KUA’s fourth goal.

KUA (3-6) travels to Andover on Saturday for a 3:30 start.
