History Department Chair Lyn Lord has been leading the way in new media strategies at KUA for several years. Together with technology guru Miranda Clemson, she founded KUA's own version of UTube, KUTube. Lyn's students can review their lessons via podcasts, and last year her history classes engaged in lively discussion via Twitter. These are just a few examples of how she has integrated Web 2.0 and social media into her teaching.
Now she is sharing some of her insights and strategies with fellow educators through monthly discussions on Green Comma, an education strategy and development company for digital and print materials for students in grades K-16.
Lyn's first topic is Twitter in high school U.S. history classes (View here)
Upcoming discussions will include:
Cell phones as instructional devices
Social networking. How viable and what are the issues
Interactive simulations and gaming for social studies classrooms
Verifying online sources for school reports
Safety and privacy issues
