KUA Golf Kicks Off Their 2009 Season
KUA Golf began their spring season with a win against New Hampton @ White Mountain Golf Course in Ashland, NH. The match was broken down into a total of (9) possible points with KUA winning 5 1/2 of them. Six points are achieved through individual match play (1 vs. 1) and three points are accumulated through best ball matches (2 vs. 2).
The first foursome of the day saw #1 player, Senior Taylor Millward shoot 42 for nine holes, amazingly he hit every green in regulation but struggled with his putting on the recently aerated greens. He won his individual match along with his best ball match alongside partner and #2 player, Senior Michael Novey. Michael had the low round of the match, shooting 38 for nine holes including a 20 foot birdie. These top two players compiled 3 of KUA's 5 1/2 point total.
Next, we had an absence with our #3 player, Zachary Musgrave and had to move every other player up the totem pole. This responsibility was met with strong play from #3 player, Gabrielle Vellieux, #4 Martin Ouellette, #5 Sam Hermann and #6 Michael Shin. Each played solidly with Martin and Michael winning their individual matches and Martin and Gabe halving their better ball match.
Overall, our first match was a great success considering the personnel absent and only having played three nine hole rounds so far this spring. KUA Golf will build upon this win with matches next week versus Vermont Academy and Tilton. Congratulations to all participants.
