On Saturday, April 21, 2007 KimballUnionAcademy's
Model United Nations Club participated in a one-day, high
school Model United Nations conference at DartmouthCollege in Hanover, NH.
The Dartmouth Model United Nations
conference (DartMUN) is a non-profit, volunteer project run entirely by Dartmouth students.
Through simulations of various United Nations committees, both past and
present, the conference promotes a thorough understanding of international
affairs and raises awareness of the roles we all play as global citizens in an
increasingly interconnected world. During the course of the conference,
students debated topics of global importance and get first-hand experience in
diplomatic negotiations, writing resolutions, and role-playing, all in the
course of crafting solutions to the international conflicts and crises posed
before them.
KimballUnionAcademy is proud to announce that
the following students received awards as the result of their efforts at the
conference:
William Maio -
Special Committee Citation for his work in the Economic & Financial
Committee representing Canada.
William is a senior from Taiwan,
and is KUA student body president.
Claire Feldman-Reich - Outstanding Delegation Award for her work in the A.S.E.A.N. Committee
representing Myanmar.
Claire is a junior from Albany,
NY.
Jae Lee - Best
Delegation Award for his work in the A.S.E.A.N. Committee representing Thailand. Jae
is a junior from Korea.
Kimball Union congratulates these students, and thanks DartmouthCollege creating this wonderful
opportunity for our students.
