Wildcats Defeat Tilton 5-0

Kimball Union 5 Tilton 0 – Varsity Field Hockey

Kimball Union Varsity Field Hockey defeated Tilton School 5-0 on Saturday afternoon. KUA jumped out ahead 10 minutes into the game as senior captain Cindy Roseen (Wolfeboro, NH) capitalized on a scuffle in front of the net. Junior Whitney Frates (Woodstock, NH) peppered the Tilton goalkeeper with four consecutive shots but was unable to find the back of the net when Roseen scooped up the ball off of the goalkeeper’s pads and slid it into the lower left corner. Roseen followed suit with two more goals with assists from senior captain Quinn Sendall (Nashua, NH) and Frates respectively. With seven minutes remaining in the half, Hanover native Lauren Darnall received a Frates pass at the opposite post and swept the ball into the net.

During the second half, KUA focused on ball possession and found success with beautiful passes from Darnall, Frates, Sarah Cutts (Andover, MA) and freshman Jillian Fitzgerald (Enfield, NH) The lone goal of the half was from Frates, who received a low angle pass from Darnall on the endline, and slammed it home into the net.

KUA out-cornered Tilton 9-1 and out shot their opponent 18-1. Senior goalkeeper Lily Callahan (Brownsville, VT) combined with Junior Goalkeeper Alyssa Reault to preserve the shut out.
