KU a vs Lebanon High School

2/8 The KUA boys JV basketball team had a close game against a scrappy and determined Lebanon squad on Wednesday. KUA finally prevailed 38-35, but it took some clutch defending and foul shooting during the last minute by captain Bryan Gee to ensure the victory. This game was markedly different from the first matchup between these two teams -- this time, Lebanon had a great game plan and executed it with intense defense and accurate shooting. After Lebanon jumped to a ten-point lead, KUA managed to claw its way back to a tie by halftime. During the second half, KUA built up a ten-point lead of its own, only to see it whittled away by some strong 3-point shooting by Lebanon. With less than two minutes to go, Lebanon finally took a one-point lead, and this game was into crunch time. In the end, it was the clutch rebounding by Matt Cricco and Ike Okpoebo, and the tough defense of Bryan Gee that carried the day. Credit goes to an inspired Lebanon team who played hard from the tipoff right to the end. Once again, KUA had balanced scoring from Gee (9), Cricco (8), McNamara (7), Okpoebo (6), and McCooey (4). Today's MVP was Ike Okpoebo for his clutch rebounds and his clutch baskets as the game headed down the final stretch. Next up, Cardigan Mountain School on Friday at 2:30, then Proctor Academy on Saturday.
