JV Girls Soccer Wins Epic Game against New Hampton, 4-2!

Hastings
KUA JV Girls Soccer traveled to New Hampton and came back with a great win in the second half!
On a sunny, hot Saturday, the KUA Girls JV Soccer team faced off against the New Hampton Huskies. The Wildcats came out earlier, with Lily Wennik and Caroline Sheehan providing strong pressure right after the game-opening whistle. KUA got an early goal from Wennik. The Huskies came back, pressuring the defense led by captains Haily McNamara, Nikki Petrescu-Boboc, and the returning Kate Mackey. The KUA defense held firm for some time, beating back wave after wave of attacks from the Huskies, with great plays by Taryn Boyer on the right fullback wing and Maddy Bridge challenging the Huskies offense. Caroline Sheehan rallied the offense and got an epic shot into the New Hampton net. Then the Huskies came back, scoring several goals to tie the game. With the game in the balance, subs Libby Kotei-Fearon, Gailie Hao, and Nangsel Norgay lept into action and helped to wear down the Husky offense. Helena Heckmann deftly weaved the ball through the midfield, with much assistance from Margot Frost, and managed a deft shot into the New Hampton net! With KUA ahead 3-2, Jodie Richards made great plays in the midfield, despite many apologies for bumping into other players. Athena Werner and Lyndsey Patten worked hard in the offensive drive to pressure the Husky goal. Finally, late in the game, Lily Wennik again found the magic touch and buried a shot in the Husky net. KUA celebrated a hard-fought victory over the New Hampton Huskies, with a final score of 4-2. Many thanks to the KUA fans who joined us on the road. Next week the JV Girls play Saint Paul’s School at 3:00 pm on Wednesday 2nd away and we hope to see the strong support on the road again.
