Christopher D. Stone

Christopher D. Stone, 66, died peacefully at the Jack Byrne Center in Lebanon, NH with family by his side after a two year struggle with multiple myeloma. Born in Windsor, VT to David R. Stone and Esther Mary Dickerson, Chris grew up in Plainfield, NH where he attended elementary school and graduated from Kimball Union Academy in 1970. He later graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree in zoology.

Chris’s work career revolved around his love for food and cooking. He was one of the founding partners of The Village Hearth Restaurant on the mall in Lebanon before spending over thirty years in the kitchen at KUA. For the last several years, he worked for Café Services at Lebanon High School, where he enjoyed interacting with all of the students. Many of these students already knew Chris from his true passion: coaching track and field. Coach Stone began volunteering with the Hershey Youth Track and Field program and later was an assistant coach at Lebanon High School during a period of unprecedented success, including over 20 state girls and boys indoor and outdoor championships. Chris also dedicated many hours outside of work supporting local Boy Scouts of America Troop 279 and coaching both golf and soccer at KUA. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and all others whose lives he touched.

Chris is predeceased by his father. He is survived by his wife Joanne (Jody) Stone, their two sons, Zachary Stone (Kristin) of Nashville, TN and Ian Stone of Chicago, IL, and a grandson, Fulton Stone. He is also survived by his mother, his stepmother Theresa Stone, and five siblings: Shirley, Jennifer, Adrienne and Matthew Stone and Meredith Hyder (Doug), as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
