KUA wins the rematch.

KUA played a second great game against the New Hampton Huskies, only five days after the previous one. The Wildcats dominated the first period, creating a number of strong scoring opportunities, but it was New Hampton that struck first taking advantage of a defensive error to score a shorthanded goal. That seemed to take the wind out of KUA’s sails, and New Hampton scored again to go up 2 – 0. Tomas Mazura scored mid-way through the period, just before the mid-game ice make, with assists from Cam Tucker and Ben Tardiff. Coach Diamond spoke directly and inspirationally in the locker room, and Alex Regnery scored a goal just 26 seconds in off a great pass from Cam Tucker. Jon Schafer scored 25 seconds after that, with the assist going to Jay Chubb, and the Wildcats took the lead. Tomas scored an unassisted goal in the third, but then KUA was assessed its only penalty of the entire game with just over two minutes left. New Hampton pulled their goalie and skated six players against four for 90 seconds but the Wildcats penalty kill unit held. (In fairness, New Hampton kept their goalie out and scored with about 20 seconds on the clock to bring the score to 4 – 3, and that is how the game ended.) KUA used seventeen different skaters, each of whom contributed to the win, and Jonah Silverman played well in the net.
