KUA suffers first defeat

Woody Redpath
KUA suffered their first defeat of the season during the opening game of the Flood-Marr tournament.
KUA took on the Salisbury school in a much anticipated match up.
Both teams came out of the gate fired up and ready to go. Both teams had chances in the first period, but both goalies were up to the task and kept the score tied at 0.
Salisbury struck first off of a face-off play. The Salisbury made a nice tip in front to be Elijah Harris. KUA didn't let the goal against sting for too long, as Ben Finkelstein brought the game even once again when he received a pass from Pat Shea at the point. He walked across the blue line and shot through a screen, beating the Salisbury goalie just over the glove hand. Salisbury took the lead late in the second on their second tip of the game. KUA had other chances including a cross bar shot from Jack McCarthy and a post shot from Bobby Young, but they were unable to beat the goalie.
The third period was high paced and exciting. KUA had chances to tie it up, including a one timer from Brendan Riley, which the Salisbury goalie made a great save on. It took KUA 14 minutes and a pulled goalie to get the equalizer. Jack McCarthy drove down the slot, shot low, but the goalie couldn't handle the rebound. Connor Jean picked up the loose puck and knocked it home into the empty net. With 25 seconds left in the game and overtime on the horizon, Salisbury entered the KUA zone, shot high and wide which looked to be getting out of the zone, but a quick effort from the defenseman kept the puck in and shot it towards the net. After a scramble in front, some how the puck ended up in the net with Salisbury taking the lead and the win.
KUA must shake off the game and regain their focus as they take on Deerfield Academy this evening at 7 PM in their second round game of the tournament
