Wildcats Play Strong Against the Huskies
The rain started to fall just as the Huskies and Wildcats took the field for the Wildcats’ last home game of the season. The Huskies started off the scoring with two goals in the first 10 minutes after both teams had a difficult time getting control off the ball as they adjusted to the rain and the grass field. Junior Storm Sideleau (Contoocook, NH) scored the first Wildcat goal 14 minutes into the game. She scored again off an 8 meter shot 3 minutes later. The half ended with the Wildcats trailing by 1 goal, the score 3-2. In the second half, the Huskies took advantage of man up situations while the Wildcats fought to get back possession. Junior Morgan Walsh (Duxbury, MA) scored the Wildcats 3rd goal off an 8 meter shot to break the Huskie streak. Sideleau scored two more to decrease the deficit. Sideleau finished the game with 4 goals and goalie Christine Bouchat-Bonin saved 8 shots in net.
Seniors Gretchen Schissel (Newport, NH), Hailey Hart (Newton, MA), Maura Doyle (Merrimac, MA), and Kayla Jacobs (Norwich, VT) played a strong game for the Wildcats. Senior Caro Longpre supported her team from the sidelines as she recovers from injury.
The Wildcats play their final game on the road against Northfield Mount Hermon on Saturday at 2:30.
