KUA’s hopes to defeat Andover slowly slipped away as the visiting team built a 7-2 lead going into the half. While Andover never mounted a run against the Wildcats, they, nonetheless, effectively moved the ball around the perimeter with long possessions and good shot selections. The Wildcats kept the game within reach with tough defense and giving up little ground in transition. Close defensemen Matt Michaud, Chris Anderson, and Trey McDougall laid hard checks and quick slides to force outside shots. Defensive middies Cam Beecy, Owen Winslow, and Jacob Paluch provided good muscle below the restraining lines. First line middies Andrew Jarrett, Mike Robetello, and PJ Tessier cleared the ball effectively and continued to press the Andover cage until the final whistle.
Despite the five-goal deficit at the half, KUA came back in the second with every intention to close the gap and make demonstrate their grit. The second half proved to be more even, with KUA cutting the two-quarter margin to 7-5. Andrew Jarrett scored two goals for the Wildcats. Eric Megnia contributed another two and dished out an assists. Mike Robertello and PJ Tessier contributed the other two KUA goals.
