Seniors Shine against St. Paul's

Tonight’s contest against St. Paul’s represented the final home game for four Lady Wildcats.  Four-year seniors Gretchen Schissel (Newport, NH), Rebecca DeTurk (Hartland, VT) and Dee Rodriguez (Bronx, NY) along with three-year senior Fiekah Fataar (Cape Town, South Africa) were honored before the opening tip for their hard work and dedication to the basketball program.  Each has played in the post- season every single season and last year made it to the New England Class C Championship game.

The Cats started strong with the seniors accounting for the the first 10 points before sophomore Shannon Walsh took over netting the next 10 points by herself.  A scrappy St. Paul’s squad went 100% from the foul line and kept the game close, 30-23, at the break.

Defense was the name of the game in the second stanza.  Becca DeTurk and Kaitie Sanders worked tirelessly forcing St. Paul’s turnovers and limiting outside shots while Jill Clark and Shannon Walsh cleaned up on the boards.

Sadly, freshman Miranda Judd went down with a broken wrist early in the game and will miss the rest of the season. The 11-6 Wildcats will have to fill this void as best they can the rest of the way.

Walsh finished with 20 points while Fiekah Fataar added 15.  Sanders (7), Clark (5), DeTurk (4), Schissel (4) and Tyler (1) rounded out the scoring.
