KUA wins home opener in 8-6 battle over Williston

KUA’s home opener was a thriller with the Wildcats pulling away from Williston in the final minutes of the fourth quarter to preserve an 8-6 victory. The lead changed four times during the game. Ultimately, KUA started to win the ground balls as well key face-off victories in the final two quarters. Ryan Lund, PJ Tessier, and Mike Powell played solid defense in the midfield and hustled end to end in transition. Tim McNair (Wilmette, IL) was stellar in the net recording six saves.  The defensive unit of Kevin Vieira (Brooklyn, NY), Trey McDougall (Saratoga Springs, NY), Pat Lynch (Tewksbury, MA), and Riley Alderman (Rutland, VT) protected the net on their way to conceding a season low six goals.
 
Andrew Jarrett (Weston, MA) led all scorers with 3 goals and 1 assist, while local player Max Abendroth (Sunapee, NH) netted 2 and assisted on another while Weathersfield, VT native Jon Spencer contributed two goals, including the final KUA goal with 1:36 remaining to put the game out of reach.  Andrew Cole (Wilmette, IL) goal added a goal and an assist while attackman Alex Keiver (North Andover, MA) also earned an assist during the game.  KUA (1-2) continues their 2012 season at home on Saturday against Cushing Academy.
