KUA holds on to win last home game of season
For our seniors, this was the last home game! Congratulations to them for a great season, and great careers: Meg Fauver, Yirui Xu, Kate Dong, Katie Dole, and Erin Mattila. Thanks to all the underclassmen who helped make signs for the seniors and to Alison Pollard for coordinating the effort!
The Northfield team is traditionally strong, so the Wildcats were ready for a tough fight, and that's just what they got. In the first period. Morgan Sebor scored the first goal of the game on a hard low shot form the left wing that deflected off the goalie's stick and into the net. NMH fought back though, and scored the next two goals for a one goal lead at the end of the first.
KUA came out strong in the second. All game, Mary Leech was a rock on D as well as a force in the offensive zone. Early in the second period, she collected a pass from Morgan Sebor and walked in from the point before firing a low wrist shot on net. The goalie sprawled to make the initial save, and Katie Dole was there to finish the rebound. In an attempt to slow the momentum, NMH called time out, but it was no use. KUA scored again on a strong offensive push from the D. This time it as Aly Young who dropped down from the point to pick up a loose puck and sent a bullet of a wrist shot inside the far post. Finally, Katie Dole cycling up from the corner scored her second goal of the game with a hard wrist shot over the goalie's blocker.
