Goals By Viens and Landwehrle Lead Wildcats to Victory

The Wildcats were back on the road as they travelled down to Groton School for a Wednesday afternoon matchup.  The first period was back and forth with Groton getting most of the chances.  In the second period the Wildcats adjusted their breakout and were determined to shake out their bus legs.  The Wildcats went on the Power Play early in the second and were able to set up their power play in the Groton offensive zone.  After a couple close chances, Michaela Igo passed the puck from the left corner to Caro Longpre who dished it over to Charlie Viens who was able to hit the back of the net off a one-timer.  The Wildcats a few minutes later were able to strike again when Lindsey Landwehrle fought through a couple Groton sticks to get a shot off that beat the Groton goalie on the low right-hand side.  After the two goals the Wildcats got little over confident and were caught by Groton player, Maeve McMahon, on a rush and she was able to bury the puck on her backhand.  The Wildcats refocused during the second period intermission and came out determined to shutdown the Groton offense.  KUA played very smart and sound defense in the third period and were able to pull off the 2-1 win.  Biz Futrell was again on fire in goal, making 25 saves on the day.  The Wildcats head down to the Southfield Tournament this weekend where they will take on Middlesex School on Friday at 2PM.
