Tough Loss in Overtime

The Wildcats traveled down to Ashburnham MA to play the Cushing Penguins in their last regular season game.  The game started out sluggish as the Wildcats adjusted to the wider field and interesting lines.  The Wildcats has many scoring opportunities in the first half with 5 corners and some shots into the circle by Maura Doyle (Merrimack, MA) and Maya Karosas (Stowe, VT).  The Penguins dominated the second half with 8 corners of their own.  Ali Pollard (Meriden, NH), Mary Leech (Manchester, VT) and Eibhilin Whittemore (Springfield, VT) played a strong defense especially on corners and prevented many shots on goal.

The game went into overtime.  Hailey Hart (Newton, MA), Shannon Sebor (Haverhill, NH), Doyle and Karosas worked together to get the ball into their offensive zone.  The Penguins played a strong defensive game and quickly won the ball and brought it into our defensive zone.  Kells Casey (Sandwich, MA) stood strong in the goal but the Penguins managed to sneak the ball past her after the third rebound.  Casey finished the game with 17 saves in the net.

The Wildcats finish the season 7-7-2 and second in the Lakes Region.  The coaches Erin Mellow and Sue Halliday thank the team for a wonderful season and a special thanks to the seniors for making it a year with great leadership.
