The KUA girls played an exciting match at home against Holderness on Saturday and came away with a big win. It was a team effort all the way with everyone contributing their best efforts. The first half was evenly matched with both teams having their chances to score, but it wasn't until Holderness gained a corner in the last minute of play that they were able to take the 1-0 lead. The second half started with forward Mo Olson getting the ball on her stick in the Holderness circle and sending it to the back of the cage, all in the first minute. Both teams, fired up with a tie score, played hard, but ten minutes into the half, forward Jennifer Wang with an assist from midfielder Jenny Choi, found the inside of the Holderness goal again. Even with a little breathing room, KUA knew they couldn't let up and give their opponents another chance to score. The defense of Irene Lee, Lyndsay Ling, Jenny Jeon and Kristen Chen along with goalie Mackenzie Keegan who made six beautiful saves, fought off all attacks on their goal. With two minutes left Kelsey Pollard, Abby Rosen, Jennifer, Mo and Jenny C. and Maddie Belback were scrambling for the ball in front of Holderness' goal, when Maddie diverted a ball coming off the goalie's pads and made her first goal of the season. Cherry Cheng played three different positions helping out the team. KUA had one corner to six from Holderness. The last game of the season will be played at Cushing Academy on Saturday.
