Wildcats Lose in Last 30 Seconds

The Wildcats hosted the Tilton School Rams today on Pope Field.  Both teams suffered cold wet conditions throughout the game.  The Wildcats had a great first half, dominating possession of the ball with 8 corners and 5 shots on goal.  Once in the circle, the Cats had trouble connecting passes and getting shots off.  Both teams went into the second half with continued determination and possession went back and forth on the field.

In the last five minutes, still at 0-0, Tilton ramped up their offensive game.  The Rams had a number of corners and shots on goal while the Wildcats had difficulty clearing it out to their wings.  With 23 seconds left on the clock, the Rams’ left wing connected with a reverse sweep from the opposite side of the circle to score the winning goal for Tilton.  The Wildcats rushed to earn a corner to push the game into overtime but the clock ran out.

Storm Sidelou (Hopkinton, NH) and Maura Doyle (Merrimac, MA) played a strong midfield game and Kells Casey (Sandwich, MA) played a solid game in the net.

The Wildcats travel to Proctor on Wednesday to play at 3:00.
