The Kimball Union Field Hockey hosted their first game today against Northfield Mount Hermon. Less than four minutes into play, the NMH Hoggers scored off a pass to their open left wing in the circle. The Wildcats began playing much aggressively in their defensive circle as well as all over the field; they earned many scoring opportunities, had 8 shots but could not finish. In the second half, the Wildcats continued to dominate the play with the ball down in their offensive zone. Again, they had 6 shots on goal but could not find the back of the net. The Hoggers capitalized on each opportunity and scored 12 minutes into the half to make the score 0-2.
Storm Sideleau (Contoocook, NH) and Shannon Sebor (Haverhill, NH) played a strong game in the midfield each having shots on goal. Maya Karosas (Stowe, VT) and Leah Cole Durst (Cornish, NH) carried the ball up the left side of the field effectively. Eibhilin Whittemore (Springfield, VT) played a key role in getting the ball out of the defensive end. The Wildcats had 8 corners to the Hoggers 1 and 14 shots to the Hoggers 7. Kells Casey (Sandwich, MA) had 5 saves in the net.
The Wildcats host the Tilton School Rams Saturday October 2 on Pope Field at 3:00.
