At the end of three quarters, KUA and New Hampton were tied, 8-8. Three quick unanswered goals in the opening minutes of the 4th quarter, however, proved to be too much for the Wildcats as New Hampton went on to win the day’s contest, 13-10. KUA dominated the first quarter and led at the half, 6-5. The Wildcats played with great intensity from start to finish and saw multiple players contribute on both ends of the field. Senior defenseman Miles Hancock forced numerous turnovers and did not give New Hampton’s dodging midfielders any easy looks at the cage. Senior Andrew Kelley was an equal force and Senior Steve Swartz played steady, disciplined defense throughout the game.
Senior CJ Frates led the KUA attack with three goals and two assist while fellow attackman Eric Wollrath added three goals of his own. Junior midfielder Max Abendroth contributed two goals and an assist with his strong play in the midfield. Seniors Drew Simoneau and Chris Morse dominated the face-off spot winning 19/27 face-offs. Their wingmen Mike Powell, Ryan Lund, and Connor Bailey were key in their roles as they fought aggressively to win ground balls.
KUA (1-3) travels to Proctor on Saturday for a 2pm game.
