KUA Advances to NEPSAC Semi-Final Game
The Lady Wildcats, 17-6, advance to the semi-finals of the New England Prep School Basketball Tournament (NEPSAC) with a 56-26 win over 7th seeded Beaver Country Day School (17-5) today in Meriden, NH. Rebecca DeTurk (Hartland, VT) came up huge for the Cats on both ends of the floor. The sophomore forward grabbed rebounds, dished assists and scored a season-high 10 points including a perfect performance from the foul line. Newport’s Gretchen Schissel and Katey Spanos each hit some key shots during the game to break open a 24-11 half-time lead. Co-captain Gabby Diaz led all scorers with 16 points. Autumn Kariuki was the third Wildcat in double-figures with 10 points.
KUA will play #3 seed Lincoln School (Providence, RI) in the NEPSAC semi-final game on Friday at 4p.m. at Stoneleigh Burnham School in Greenfield, MA.
