Kimball Union Boys Basketball team won their season opener today, travelling to Cambridge MA to take on Buckingham Browne & Nichols School and coming away with a 58-41 win. BB&N’s guard Dan Slavin led all scorers with 22 points for the game, but KUA’s balanced attack was too much for the home squad. BB&N matched KUA shot for shot through much of the first half until KUA went on a 6-0 run to finish the half up nine, 27-18. KUA was effective shooting from the perimeter over BB&N’s pesky zone defense in the first half and then started to score off their transition game in the second. KUA’s Dan Brooks had a strong second half scoring 8 of his 11 points. Waylan Siverand lead KUA in scoring with 13 points, Johnny Bunyan was close behind with 10. Rick Naylor added 9 points going 3-5 from outside the arc; Brian Fabrizius and Ryan Daye each finished with 8 points for the night. KUA returns to action Friday evening at home vs Wilbraham Monson.
