Kimball Union's boys basketball team travelled to Cushing today and came away with a gutty 57-55 victory to secure a fifth seed in the upcoming NEPSAC Class B tournament that starts next Wed. An athletic Cushing team built an 11 point lead midway into the first half but KUA buckled down on the defensive end and cut that lead to 6 at the half. Sparked by Din Moore game high 20 points and Carlos Toussaint (12pts) finding his range in the second half, KUA fought back to tie the game with five minutes to play. The lead exchanged hands often in the fnal minutes but a defensive stop and an ensuing floater in lane by guard Leslie Smith( 13pts) with five seconds left sealed the victory for KUA. Solid play from Grant White , Gus Cruz, and a few defensive gems from Pascal Mensah helped KUA secure their victory. Winning nine out of the last ten games, and working on a five game winning streak, KUA earns a berth in the tournament and will take on fourth ranked Hotchkiss School next Wed at a neutral site.
