Kimball Union Boys Basketball team travelled to play the Tilton Rams last night. Tilton, currently at the top in the NE Class B standings withstood a stout challenge from the Wildcats to win in the end 60-51. Tilton’s Providence-bound Gerald Coleman led all scorers with 21 for the night. KUA’s Leslie Smith was right behind with 19. Din Moore also hit double figures for KUA with 13. KUA started off well but a late run by Tilton sent them into the locker room at half leading 33-23. Undaunted KUA came out and scored the first five points to start the second half and cut into Tilton’s lead. 33-28. A long three by Tilton started them on a 10-0 run allowing them to maintain at least a ten point margin for most of the half. KUA started to chip away at this lead as the half wore on. Down eight with five minutes then down five with 3 minutes, KUA worked hard but were unable to close any further. A few Tilton buckets in transition led to the final margin 60-51. KUA entertains two teams at home this weekend with Kents Hill arriving for a Friday night game at 7pm and then Hebron comes in on Saturday.
