The Lady Wildcats traveled to Holderness tonight for a classic Class C and league re-match with the Blue Bulls. The first go-around the Wildcats shot a dismal 10-for-25 from the charity stripe. This time around the Cats shot 77% (10-for-13) with Tori Agel shooting a perfect 4-for-4. Gabby Diaz sank two key freebies down the stretch which allowed KUA to secure the road win.
Holderness was red hot in the opening stanza and headed to the locker room with a 34-27 lead at the break. The Bulls extended their lead to 10 (49-39) with 10 minutes remaining but Holderness's top scorer Marissa Pendergast (29 points for the game) picked up her fourth foul and had to retreat to the bench. KUA took advantage by going inside to power forward Autumn Kariuki. Kariuki, who had not attempted a shot in the first half, shot 7-for-8 in the second stanza. At the 7:37 mark, KUA took the lead for good. Gabby Diaz, who ended the game with 24 points, shot an impressive 4-for-5 from three point land (8-for-13 overall). Also scoring in double figures were Greydy Diaz (12) and Tori Agel (10). Freshman Becca DeTurk (Hartland, VT) chipped in with 2 buckets, both at crucial times in the ball game.
