Cats Lose in OT

Ethel Walker came to play and had the support of a rowdy home crowd throughout today's contest. EWS took advantage of KUA's bus legs in the first half and headed into the break with 27-25 lead.  Greydy Diaz '10 came out on fire after the intermission netting 4 consecutive buckets to start the second half.  The Wildcats were up by as much as 10 at one point but a spirited and determined Ethel Walker team simply would not go away.  KUA held a 6 point lead with just under 2 minutes to play but Ethel Walker got to the line and hit some crucial buckets to cut the deficit to 2 with under a minute.  EWS began to foul but KUA could not convert on two separate attempts and Walkers got the ball back and had a chance to tie the game.  A missed jump shot attempt was rebounded and passed down low to Walker's Caroline Kietyla who made a layup to send the game to overtime.  Walkers opened up the extra period with a 3 pointer and that seemed to take the wind out of KUA's sails.  EWS went on to win this game 61-58 in OT.

Greydy Diaz ended the game with a team high 6 rebounds and 25 points, shooting 50% from the floor.  Tori Agel '10 chipped in with 19 points and 5 boards. Shelby Pillsbury led the team in steals with 4 to go along with 8 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and a charge, her third of the season.
