KUA raced out to a 12-0 lead and never looked back in a 70-43 victory over Lakes Region League rival Proctor Academy. Meriden’s Tori Agel led all scorers with 21 points shooting an impressive 80% from the floor (8-for-10). Three other players scored in double-figures for KUA including Greydy Diaz with 13 (4 assists, 3 steals), Gabby Diaz with 12 (9 assists, 5 rebounds) and Autumn Kariuki with 11. Kariuki battled hard on the boards as well grabbing seven rebounds (6 offensive) on the afternoon. Ainsley MacDonald also grabbed 7 boards for the Cats.
Once again, all nine players on the roster saw significant playing time and gained valuable game experience. Becca DeTurk continues to impress with her quickness and defensive intensity while Emily Kelly and Gretchen Schissel are doing a good job of learning plays and defensive systems.
KUA improves to 7-1 and will travel to Simsbury, CT for a Class C match-up with Ethel Walker School on Saturday at 3:30p.m.
