The home opener provided a thrill for the fans today as two top-ranked Class C teams faced off in Alumni Gymnasium. Despite the size disadvantage, KUA came out strong against the Rams with Gabby Diaz sinking two 3-pointers to start the game. Bianca Brenz and Tori Agel kept the Cats within striking distance and excellent team defense kept Tilton off the boards and in foul trouble. The score at the break was 22-21 in favor of the visitors. Gabby was hot again in the second stanza knocking down two more treys while sister Greydy heated up from outside and from the free throw line. With just under a minute left in the contest, KUA trailed by three points and Tilton's 6'2" center was on the bench with 5 fouls, but with time running out KUA was forced to foul. Tilton shot an impressive 11-for-16 from the line (all in the second half) and was able to secure a 56-48 victory.
Tori Agel finished the game with 11 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Junior Brenz pulled in 8 boards and dished out 3 assists to go along with 7 points. Gabby Diaz led the team in scoring with 14 points.
