KUA defeats Middlesex to gain a berth in the finals
KUA's Boys basketball team had their second win in less that 24 hours with an exciting 59-49 victory over Middlesex in the semifinals of their basketball tournament. Both teams came out strong as the lead swung back and forth numerous times in the first eight minutes of play. KUA gained the upper hand as the half ended behind strong play from Din Moore who knocked down three threes in the first 16 minutes. KUA extended their lead to as much as 14 points early in the half only to see that lead evaporate as Middlesex' Vanderbuilt bound forward Rod Odom almost single-handedly lead his team back. Odom despite constant pressure from KUA all day ended with 31 points for the game. KUA responded to the challenge as they settled in to take a close game 42-40 and push the lead to 10 by the end. Din Moore lead KUA with 21 points for the game; Leslie Smith had another strong showing with 17 points a solid defensive play. Carlos Toussaint joined Din and Leslie with 11 points and Grant White added 8. KUA takes on The Masters School in the finals later today.
