KUA knocks out a grinder, beating Andover 57-51

KUA Boys Basketball team travelled to play at Andover Academy today and came away with a win 57-51.  The Wildcats got off to a quick start, building a 13-5 lead  but Andover buckled down and chipped away at the lead to make it a game.  Neither team could get into any rhythm of offensive play as they ended up tied  23-23 at the half.  After trading baskets for the first eight minutes of the second half KUA turned up the defensive pressure and built a small lead towards the end.  KUA’s point guard Leslie Smith scored all of his game high 18 points in the second half going 8-11 from the free throw line as the game wound down.  Keith Callies provided a spark off the bench tonight hitting two quick threes and providing quickness in transition  as he scored 12.  Din Moore added 11 points and held Andover’s Keith McKaskill to nine points for the night.  KUA returns to action tomorrow when Tilton School comes to town for a 5pm game.
