Kimball Union boys’ basketball team returned to action today in a home game against Vermont Academy. KUA came away with a hard-fought victory 67- 53. Carlos Toussaint paced KUA scorers with 18 points for the game; Grant White and Din Moore again hit in double figures with 13 and 12 points respectively. Keith Callies scored 8 of his 10 points late in the second half to keep a pesky Vermont team at bay. Vermont made two solid runs at KUA in the second half, both times cutting KUA’s lead to 7 behind a determined effort on the offensive boards and the torrid shooting of guard CJ Mack who ended the game with 21 points, hitting five three-pointers. Despite these efforts Kimball Union maintained their composure as David Hahn established control of the defensive boards and KUA scored baskets in transition to build the lead to 14 at the games end. For the second night in a row Pascal Mensah provided a spark coming off the bench with a sound defensive effort. Kimball Union has a busy final week of school as they approach the holiday break, playing at Andover on Tuesday, home vs reigning NE champions Tilton on Wednesday and then travelling to Middlesex School on Friday for a weekend tournament.
