On the road, the Kimball Union Academy Wildcats jumped off the bus ready to play against Tilton. Five different KUA players found the net in the first quarter as the Wildcats scrambled to build a 7-1 lead. Senior Kyle Curry was especially hot with three of the seven goals. Senior Justin Wright added one of his own as did seniors Cody Danforth and Steve Kontos and junior Alex Liebert. Junior Ben Hayden assisted on three of KUA’s first quarter goals.
Sophomore attackman CJ Frates found KUA cutters throughout the second quarter, dishing out four assists before scoring a goal of his own to lead the Wildcats to a 14-3 lead at the half. Sophomores Drew Caron and Chris Morse scored their first of two goals each in the second quarter and junior Nathan Braginetz also found the back of the net. The Tilton Rams never backed down, holding KUA to no goals in the third quarter. KUA got back on the board again in the fourth quarter with goals by Frates, Caron, Liebert, and sophomore Kevin Vieira. Sophomore Sam Wyskiel recorded his first assist of the season on Liebert’s third goal.
The KUA defense was relentless on their end of the field, winning ground balls and playing hard, solid team defense. After getting beat twice early in the game, Juan Breton, Ben Wyskiel, and John Planer worked well together to shut down Tilton’s very talented senior attackman Marquis. Junior long stick middies Cullen Boyle and Fraklin Boswell-Taylor were especially effective pushing out against the Ram’s middies and breaking quickly down the field in unsettled situations. KUA goalie Michael Maggiore (5 saves) made a number of laser outlet passes to ignite the KUA attack.
On Saturday, KUA (5-1) travels to take on league rival Holderness.
