Strong Start in Slalom Race

The team traveled to Pat's Peak to the first Slalom race of the season in sub zero temperatures.  The Junior Varsity racers maintained their focus and excitement in the first run.  Liv Jonetzki skied a strong first run, coming in 10th place.  Unfortunately, the rutted course caused a DQ in the second run.
KUA JV finished second overall in the race with Niklas Engstrand leading the pack coming in 2nd place overall.  Then followed Guillaume Pictet, Lucas Canadas, Jarrad Schiltkamp, Felix Ackerman and Jae Won Kang rounding out the top 10 with 5, 7, 8, 9, 10 finishes respectively.  As the sun went down and the temperature dropped even more, the course became more unruly.  The first gate seemed to be the ultimate test,  it lay high on the skier's left causing many to skid out and lose speed getting around it.  Commendable effort by all!

The next race will be on our home mountain, Dartmouth Skiway, Wednesday January 21 at 2 pm.
