Strong Wildcat Effort

GIRLS VARSITY HOCKEY TEAM

The Girls Varsity Hockey Team travelled to NMH's half indoor, half outdoor rink on this unusually warm winter day.  The girls came out of the locker room hungry for their first victory and ready to take on the Hoggers.  Lauren Fischelis put KUA on the board just 40 seconds into the game, as she charged the net and put a rebound past the goalie.  KUA did not keep the lead very long, as NMH capitalized on an odd man rush just a few minutes later to tie the game 1-1.  The Wildcats bounced right back when Kelly Joyce was given a pass from Gillian Herbert in the neutral zone, she skated it past the defensemen and put the puck top shelf over the goalie's right shoulder.  KUA ended the period with a 2-1 lead.  The third period contained multiple questionable calls from the referees, including two goals being called back, but the girls did not lose their focus.  NMH got a fluke goal when a shot from the point was deflected off of a stick into the top of the net.  NMH had tied the game a second time, making it 2-2.  Just seconds later Kelly Joyce took the puck from the face off and skated into the Hoggers zone.  She fired the puck into the net with the game winning goal, her second of the night.  KUA 3, NMH 2.  KUA looks to their next game at home against Proctor, this Friday at 5:00 p.m.  Come and show your support for the girls!
