Kimball Union Defeats Holderness on Parents’ Weekend

Holderness came out of the gates well and had KUA on their heels in the first five minutes. Keeper Nate Goss-Woliner made a huge save in the fourth minute to keep it level at 0-0. Goss-Woliner’s save woke the Wildcats and they began to string some passes together. Central midfielder Elisha Kahan put Ike Okpoebo in alone in the 17th minute and he calmy scored his fourth goal of the season. Holderness and KUA continued to battle in the midfield, and KUA’s Nick Lincoln scored on a free kick in the 40th minute to take KUA into halftime with a 2-0 lead. Kimball Union remained in control of the game in the second half and Andrew Jacobson scored on an assist from Ben Newton in the 65th minute. Holderness continued to battle and their efforts were rewarded when Alvaro Apraiz scored a nice goal in the 88th minute. Holderness goalkeeper Mark Haggarty also had a great day making eleven saves, four outstanding ones. Kimball Union travels to Brewster Academy on Wednesday.
