Kimball Union Defeats Kingswood-Oxford for First Win
Kimball Union traveled to Deerfield, MA to face Kingswood-Oxford of Hartford, Connecticut. It was another spectacular fall day, and Kimball Union opened the game on the offensive. After some nice combination play in the midfield, Ben Newton received a ball wide right and played across the face of the goal for Ike Okpoebo who finished it calmly in the 5th minute. In the 12th minute Iver Hulleberg recorded his first career goal on a corner kick. Kingswood continued to battle, trying to free Sam Glassman their dangerous frontrunner. He finally shook free in the 22nd minutes and put one in the back of the net. Kimball Union regained their composure and defensive focus and sophomore Drew Caron scored on a nice volley in the 30th minute that was assisted by Ike Okpoebo. Kingswood-Oxford battled hard in the second half and refused to give away anything dangerous. Kimball Union settled for long range attempts that were either saved by keeper Jake Conley or sailed well over the bar. The Wildcats finally put the game out of reach in the 80th minute when Ben Newton found Tyler Bicknell who lofted one over the keeper from the 18. Nate Goss-Woliner and Ryan Hoyt split the win, each making one save. Kimball Union has their Lakes Region League opener on Saturday at New Hampton.
