KUA and Deerfield took to Pope Field on Wednesday for a hard fought back and forth game. Deerfield came out strong and was in the lead the first quarter. However, KUA was able to dig deep and tick away at the score to come back and give the Big Green a challenge.
Although the Wildcats only had eight draw controls, they were able to capitalize when they had the ball. Bethke led the way with three goals, three assists, and three draw controls. Brinkman was a force all over the field with four goals, an assist, two caused turnovers, and a draw control. Berard, Daft and Fryar also helped to lift the Wildcats to their victory by getting the ball to the back of the net.
Defensively, KUA came out to play and were able to keep Deerfield at bay. With Clark in goal and Lopez, McClure, Dockery, Bodell, and Fowler-Thorsen on the defensive end, they were able to communicate throughout the game and adjust to the fast play of the Deerfield attack. All in all, both the KUA offense and defense were able to use the clock to their advantage and run out the time, earning them their huge win over the Big Green.
