Collaborative, Exploration Drive K-Term Projects

Here at KUA we’re looking forward to K-Term, a time when we take a break from winter exams to explore subjects outside of the typical academic disciplines and discover connections beyond our classrooms. This year, K-Term takes place March 2-6.

During this week-long experiential project-based program, students participate in collaborative projects that require critical thinking and problem-solving skills. It’s also a whole lot of fun with opportunities for sightseeing and even skiing!

Here are just a few of the 15 projects KUA students are participating in this year.

The Hilltop Goes to Capitol Hill
The sophomore class travels to our nation’s capital for a four-day trip where they’ll explore some of D.C.’s historical and cultural treasures and enjoy some time in this global city.

Dendrology and Drones
Students will create missions and pilot drones to map and manage forest resources at KUA's Snow Mountain. They’ll create a high-resolution mosaic map of pine and hemlock tree cover across the 900-acre forest reserve.

Wildcat Radio
In the spirit of live radio programming in music, talk, and news, students will design segments to be produced, recorded, and stored.

Forensic Science
CSI has nothing on KUA when it comes to finding evidence of a crime. Students will be the investigator using ballistics, blood analysis, fingerprinting, DNA identification, and more to solve a crime in four days.

Community Service

Students will explore how community non-profit organizations affect vital services and advocacy for a wide range of topics that directly impact the lives of every one of us. They'll meet with local and regional organizations and volunteer leaders.
