It was a beautiful sunny afternoon on the turf as the Wildcats faced off for their final game of the season against New Hampton. It was also the Seniors’ last home game, so the team made sure to honor them with many posters, balloons, flowers, and even brownies! KUA dominated the game from the start. Senior Lucy Pike, senior Lindsay Peckham, and junior Ryle Ferguson each scored one goal creating a 3-0 lead. The Huskies were able to add three goals to the scoreboard, but Peckham and Pike each tallied one more to end the half at 5-3. With 2 out of 4 seniors having scored in the first half, our next goal was to have the other 2 seniors score! The team did a great job supporting the seniors -winning most of the draw controls, causing turnovers, and earning many ground balls. Freshman Lucie Turcotte led the team in draw controls with 5, and Ferguson had 3. Sophomore Hannah Asbury led the team in ground balls with 3 and freshman goalie Amelia Keith shut down the Huskies attack in the first half with 3 saves. Senior Alyse Fife began the scoring for the second half with a sneaky crease roll. It was a back and forth battle for the rest of the half, but KUA managed to keep the lead. Ferguson scored two more goals and Peckham, sophomore Molly Beaupre, and Asbury all scored one goal ending the game at 11-7. Sophomore goalie Winsome Neville ended with 4 saves. Despite countless efforts by senior Eliza Sclater-Booth, the ball did not find the back of the net. However, Eliza caused multiple turnovers allowing the ball to remain in the attack zone and set her teammates up for success. We would like to thank our seniors for a fun season. Everyone worked hard and rang the bell for the first time after a home game!
