The Wildcats took to the field on Saturday, October 30th on a cold, rainy, and windy day, ultimately braving the elements to come away with a solid 3-1 win over The White Mountain School. It took some time for the team to adjust to a slippery ball and an even more slippery field, but once they got into a groove, they were able to make some solid plays. The play was relatively even in the first half, with both teams splitting possession time. With a few injuries in the Wildcat's defensive end, we had some new defenders stepping up to hold down the back line: Jitzelin Montas and Emelia Williams both moved back from their usual midfield positions to help out on defense and played solid and tough defense; they were joined by regular defenders Maggie Lopez, Sabrina Haberstock, and Elsa Shortlidge. The Wildcat's offense took a little bit of time to warm up, but when they did, efforts from Midfielders Adi Kopacz, Emilia Williams (when she wasn't playing defense), Nangsel Norgay, Hannah French, and Gabi D'Angelo helped create two great scoring opportunities for striker Hadley Bethke, both of which she put in the back of the net. In the second half, KUA gained composure and possessed the ball more frequently. Ada Yoder continued to make excellent saves in the net, adjusting well to an unpredictable ball on a wet field. The highlight of the game was the wildcat's 3rd goal, scored by Jitzelin Montas. It was Jitzelin's first goal of the season, and it secured the 3-1 win for the wildcats. KUA plays again on Wednesday, November 3rd against Holderness School. We hope to see you there!
