  • Learning Specialist

    We are seeking a Learning Specialist for the 2020-2021 academic year to provide comprehensive learning and support services to students with mild to moderate learning disabilities in a 1:1 setting. The successful candidate will have knowledge of the academic, emotional and brain-based components of learning in adolescence with the ability to utilize assistive technologies and interventions to support student growth. The candidate will also be able to support students with reading, writing, and math content instruction.
     
    • Tutor 10-12 students two to three times per week both during the class-day and afternoon activities
    • Pursue growth in understanding and implementation of the most current educational practices
    • Contribute knowledge, expertise, and passion for the ongoing collaborative effort to innovate and improve KUA’s curriculum
    • Participate in committee work as assigned by school leadership
    • Serve as a dorm parent and as a member of the weekend supervisory team
    • Assist in advising a small cohort of students, acting as a conduit for parents, and advising in a variety of academic and personal matters
     
    QUALIFICATIONS
    An ideal candidate would possess the following qualifications:
     
    • A graduate degree in Special Education or School Psychology
    • Three years of experience as a Learning Specialist at the high school level
    • Collaborative approach to problem-solving
    • Current pedagogical practices that include experience with Universal Design for Learning, backward planning (Understanding by Design), and project-based learning
    • Facility with Mac OS, SMARTboard technologies, Google apps, and other language education-enhancing products is preferred
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Flexible, resilient and creative working within a fast-paced environment
    • Outstanding interpersonal skills and a track record for building strong relationships with students and colleagues
    • Strong analytical skills and an ability to learn new systems quickly
    • Personal dedication to investing in the lives of young people
    • Sincere commitment to learn and embrace KUA’s school culture

  • Physics Teacher

    We are seeking an experienced and innovative physics teacher to become a full-time member of the KUA community, teaching and participating actively in athletics or activities and residential life. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
     
    • Teach 4 sections of physics ranging in level, potentially, from 9th Grade Conceptual Physics through AP Physics C
    • Prepare students for success on the AP Exam
    • Pursue continuous growth and development in understanding and implementation of diverse and effective instructional practices
    • Contribute knowledge, expertise, and passion for the on-going collaborative effort to innovate and improve KUA’s curriculum
    • Participate in committee work as assigned by school leadership
    • Coach/supervise two seasons of afternoon sports or activities
    • Serve as a dorm parent and as a member of the weekend supervisory team
    • Advise a small cohort of students, acting as a conduit for parents, and advising in a variety of academic and personal matters
     
    QUALIFICATIONS
    An ideal candidate would possess the following qualifications:
    • A bachelor’s degree or higher in physics, engineering or related math/science degree, a graduate degree in physics or engineering is preferred
    • 3-5 years or more years of teaching experience at the high school or college level
    • Current pedagogical practices which may include experience with Universal Design for Learning, backward planning (Understanding by Design), and project-based learning
    • Collaborative approach, willing to work closely with colleagues both in and outside of the department
    • Facility with Mac OS, SMARTboard technologies, Google apps, and other science education-enhancing products is preferred
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Experience coaching a range of sports
    • Flexible, resilient and creative working within a fast-paced environment
    • Outstanding interpersonal skills and a track record for building strong relationships with both students and colleagues
    • Strong analytical skills and an ability to learn new systems quickly
    • Personal dedication to investing in the lives of young people
    • Sincere commitment to learn and integrate into the culture of KUA

  • Full-time Groundskeeper

    We currently have an opening for a full-time groundskeeper to independently perform general grounds keeping activities in all types of weather in order to maintain a well-groomed campus.
     
    Must be physically able to perform outdoor, all weather work and lift up to 75 pounds. Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license and CDL is required. Assist in the operation and maintenance of athletic fields, hockey rink and Nordic trails.
