Ryan Miller to Join Kimball Union Academy

New Assistant Director of Admissions and Head Boys' Hockey Coach Appointed

After an extensive search, we are pleased to announce that Ryan Miller has been appointed to the position of Assistant Director of Admissions and Head Boys' Hockey Coach at Kimball Union Academy.Mr.Miller will be moving to Meriden in July and will be living on campus.

Mr. Miller is originally from Spokane,Washington and Phoenix,Arizona and is a graduate of Culver Military Academy(Indiana) where he was captain of their varsity hockey team.Recruited by Mike Gilligan, he was a four-year letter winner on the University of Vermont Catamounts Hockey team. He was team captain2002-2003 and on the Eastern College Athletic Conference(ECAC)Honor Roll for 2001-2002.

Since graduating from the University of Vermont where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and participated in numerous volunteer programs with nearby high schools, Mr.Miller moved to Miami University inOxford, Ohio. There he earned his Master of Science degree in Sport Studies with a concentration in Sport Organization and Sport Sociology in 2006. Mr. Miller was the Academic Coordinator for Intercollegiate Athletics, Head Coach of University Club program and volunteer assistant for the nationally-ranked division one Varsity Miami University HockeyTeam, as well as, a clinician at the USA Hockey Coaches Clinic.

Moreover, his work as a division one college academic advisor and liaison with college admission professionals,athletic coaches and professors are entirely relevant to his new responsibilities as a faculty member, admissions officer, and coach at the Academy," said Mike Schafer, Head of School.

"Ryan is going to be a great role model for all our students, those with whom he will work directly as a hockey coach and all those students that he will interact with as a member of the faculty. Ryan will have an important role as a teacher, coach and student advisor in one of ourmost highly competitive athletic programs and as representative of the Academy in the admission process for all students and families interested in attending the Academy. We look forward to his joining a very talented and dedicated group of faculty and students at Kimball Union."
