Girls' Basketball Team Captures the NEPSAC Championship!

The Lady Wildcats Succeed!
Late game heroics by senior tri-captain Quinn Sendall and clutch foul shooting by freshmen Tori Agel and Greydy Diaz led to an exciting one-point victory (37-36) and the Class C crown for the Lady Wildcats today in Windsor, CT. KUA built a 3 point lead behind the rock-solid free throw shooting of Tori Agel, but consecutive turnovers by the Cats allowed Hamden Hall to swing the lead in their favor with just over a minute to play. Again, Agel got herself to the charity stripe and knocked down both freebies to bring the Cats to within 1 with 30+ seconds to play. This time the Hornets turned the ball over and KUA called a quick timeout with 9.8 ticks left on the clock. Down by 1 point with precious little time left to score, Quinn Sendall, fresh from knee surgery, fearlessly drove the lane and drew a hard foul giving KUA a chance to regain the lead and win the NEPSAC Championship for the first time since 2003. Sendall had to be helped off the court and was unable to shoot her shots so in stepped Greydy Diaz who coolly sank both attempts giving a 37-36 advantage to KUA with 3.9 seconds left. Hamden Hall's Yale-bound Mady Gobrecht's last second shot fell just short as Kimball Union celebrated yet another come-from-behind victory; this one being the sweetest of them all!
