Cail MacLean is KUA's New Girls' Varsity Hockey Coach
KUA Athletic Director Mike Doherty has announced that Cail MacLean will join the Athletic Department as Girls' Varsity Hockey Coach. Cail will also serve as Associate Director of Admissions.
An experienced coach, player, and leader, MacLean played a total of 747 games over an 11 year professional hockey career in the AHL, IHL, and ECHL and captained 3 different ECHL teams for a total of 5 seasons before coaching at the AHL and ECHL levels for 5 years. He is a 3-time ECHL All-Star, receiving the honor twice as a player and another time as a coach.
He served as Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations for the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL in Charleston, SC from 2009-11. From 2011-13 he was in British Columbia as an Assistant Coach for the Abbotsford Heat of the AHL, the top affiliate for the NHL's Calgary Flames.
MacLean grew up in Nova Scotia and earned a degree in Business Administration from The Citadel. He will be joined at KUA by his wife Keri and daughter Ashton.
